Corrections

February 26, 2008 at 12:37 am (mistakes) ()

For those of you who may have noticed run on paragraphs, I hope I have finally corrected the problem.  I still am not sure what the problem was, I tried several things to fix it and it seems one of them worked.  I hope you all continue to read The Panthers Roar and also my other sites.  One Love.

What A Wonderful Setup!

February 20, 2008 at 11:55 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , )

Hillary or Barack?  The truth is I don’t see where either changes the living conditions of poor or oppressed people.  Remember that politics is still politricks.  It is sick for two people to spend between them over two hundred million dollars campaining.  There are children who are cold and hungry.  Their homes and schools are rat infested.A larger issue however is this wonderful setup.  Two key historical progressive coalition members- woman and people of color- chopping each other up.  Setting the movement back twenty years.  Somewhere I just get the feeling that some redneck, right wing hillbilly, is laughing his ass off.

Bush Can’t Find Bin Ladden, Goes After Black Athletes

February 6, 2008 at 1:40 am (Politricks) (, , )

Very few people love animals as much as I do. Any person involved in the mistreatment of animals should be punished. Having said that, any time I see Black athletes treated worse than mass murderers in the media, I get suspicious.

When Michael Vick, Atlanta Falcons superstar quarterback and one of the most gifted athletes of our time, is literally crucified in the media, for dog fighting, I give pause; I try to put things in perspective. Vick goes to jail. And they go after his pay, $20,000 ,000 salary bonus. The courts ruled he gets to keep it.

Marion Jones is a liar and a cheat. Still, she is just an athlete, she didn’t kill anyone. She lied about steroids. Marion Jones goes to jail.

Barry Bonds became one of the most hated men on the planet as he pursued the major league baseball all time home run record. He breaks the record. He didn’t kill anyone; he gets indicted, now they want to put him jail.

No one sees anything strange about any of this? What, not enough terrorist in the world? How many people died in Iraq or Afghanistan? How many Billions were wasted by Chaney’s friends? How many millions of dollars went missing in the Iraq rebuilding effort? We don’t know because the media ( much of it owned or influenced by oil companies) chose different front page stories; stories about athletes who haven’t killed anyone. Stories that were created as a divergence by the Bush administration. The Judges in the Marion Jones and Michael Vick cases were appointed by George Bush. His Justice Department went after Bonds, for allegedly lying.

We as a people should not have stood back and allowed these gifted- and yes – flawed young men and woman to be scape-goated. They are being made to suffer beyond their crimes so a corrupt and greedy administration can continue an illegal oil raid.

Vote For Congressional Candidates

February 4, 2008 at 11:52 pm (Democracy) (, , )

When I tell people I don’t support any of the present presidential candidates, most people respond as if shocked.  ”But you have to vote for someone!”  I am told.  Yes and no.  You never have to vote.  Black people have been quite successful when focusing on economic power which leads to political power.  Voting is one road to power, not even the best one.  But we can also vote for members of congress who we hope will check whoever becomes president.  Sometimes it is politically healthy to say”none of the above!”  You have to break out of the trap that we have to vote for one of the fools being put in front of us.  We don’t.  And remember to start saving your money ;-)

What Is A Black Candidate?

February 4, 2008 at 11:38 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , )

What is a Black candidate? – is a question that has never been discussed in a popular arena. And yet, we are being asked if Obama is a Black candidate. This is part of a major problem related to the question of who are Black leaders.

Suppose a white person, candidate “A”, represents the interests of Black people. Candidate “B”, a Black person, speaks more to right wing, even racist issues. Who is the Black candidate? Is it determined by issue or color?

This is a question that needs to be discussed before we get into who our Black candidates or leaders are. In the case of Obama- skin color and issues aside- he simple is not our man. He is the choice of white people who like the way he walks and talks. They are comfortable with his appearance. He does not make them feel uncomfortable about racism. He was given to us as what they want our leaders to be. Malcolm has already covered the danger in this. Obama represents turning the clock back 50 years for us.

Edwards Is Out

February 3, 2008 at 6:12 pm (Politricks) (, , )

It is unfortunate that John Edwards was dirted by the press in this election year.  He was too much for the people and the corporate owed media ignored him and his real issues.  He made poverty in America a central theme, as any candidate for the people would do.  Obama is not a peoples candidate anymore than he is a Black people’s candidate.  It’s still not as bleak as many think when asking who else is there.  No, it is not.  It just takes a more advanced political strategy.  One that you will read about right here!

Better Late Than Never

February 3, 2008 at 2:32 pm (Politricks) (, , , , )

I have been asked so many times who I am supporting in the New York primary. Many are surprised, even shocked, that it is not Barack Obama. The long of it is I don't trust him. The short of it is-well- I don't trust him.Obama is a candidate who has proved to be a pure opportunist. He, like many other politicians will say or do anything for political or personal financial gain. He is just another white, male, wealthy politician with a tan.

I am shocked that so many Black intellectuals are supporting him. I expect the white celebs to do there Black "flavor of the month thing. But the leaders and scholars of African descent? Amazing. The title of this post reflects the notion that given my leadership position in the New York area and my radio audience, I am a little late starting a political blog. I already write two websites: a Philosophy blog and a Personal Development site( Required Reading where I wrote a more detailed analysis of Obama's campaign). Look for more from The Panther's Roar!
